User Guide
1. What is the Interest-Free Period?
The "Interest-Free Period" is the time frame from the day you make a transaction until the final repayment due date, during which the bank charges no interest. Effectively, it's a free loan from the bank.
2. Why prioritize the longest Interest-Free Period?
When no credit cards offer special perks (like extra points or instant discounts), you should prioritize the card with the longest interest-free period.
💰 Cash Flow Optimization: By extending the time you hold onto your cash, you can keep funds in interest-bearing accounts (like high-yield savings) to earn extra returns, effectively optimizing your personal cash flow.
3. Add Credit Cards
When using for the first time, you need to enter your credit card information. Just enter the following key information:
- Card Name: E.g., "Chase Sapphire Preferred".
- Statement Date: The date the bank issues the monthly statement.
- Repayment Date: Or repayment cycle (e.g., 20 days after statement date).
4. Statement & Repayment Date
Statement Date
Banks have different rules; some issue statements on the statement date itself, others on the next day. In TodayKa, to unify calculations, we treat the day after the Statement Date as the start of the new billing cycle (the first day of the interest-free period).
Repayment Date
TodayKa supports two common calculation methods:
- Fixed Repayment Date: The repayment date is the same day every month (e.g., the 25th). This is common for credit cards in some regions like China.
- Floating Repayment Date: The repayment date depends on the statement date, e.g., "20 days after the statement date". Since the number of days in a month varies, the exact date will float.
Simply select the type that matches your card when adding it to the app.
5. View Recommendations
After adding all cards, return to the home page. TodayKa will automatically calculate which card has the longest interest-free period today and display it prominently.
💡 Tip: Typically, spending on the day after your statement date yields the longest interest-free period (up to 50+ days).
